Victoria Konnor James' recent post Thirsty for her blog “Pretty Things, Nice Life” has me wanting those beautiful illuminated pumpkins in real life as well as first life. I mean, let’s get serious about pumpkins. I like roasting pumpkin seeds and will happily substitute pumpkin for potatoes in a stew or even make a pumpkin soup or two or three, but one good-sized pumpkin is about as much as I want at one time. Also, if you put out a pumpkin the first week of October, it passes it’s prime long before Halloween. But these pumpkins are so pretty and of course, they don’t smell of pumpkin 24 hours a day, not even 1 hour a day. I want them. Do they exist in real life?

This post features a beautiful, but obviously haunted hearse, just what every driveway needs in October. Just park it out there and let the leaves fall where they may. If you can keep it shaded by trees so it only gets a hint of moonlight, all the better.

“Pretty Things, Nice Life” is my favorite kind of blog, one that has more than the minimal requirements. I love when people tell me why they like something. I like when people write about events and present the big picture so I know what to expect. She does that. Her blog is not just pictures and credits, it is also deeply informative. It’s well-organized. She wears more than lingerie. There is a mix of fashion and decor. I am loving all of this.
From the front page, you are invited to click through for more. There is a sidebar with an invitation to subscribe, a list of associated brands and events, archives, and blog feeds. At the top you can click home, click through to a page with a warm and personal introduction about her and her social media links, or click through to an email form to contact her. The only thing I would change about her blog is the same thing I suggest to everyone, including the name of the creators so when and if they rebrand, readers can find their new story and location. I love her organization of her blog and her diligence in reporting more than just the facts, ma’am.
