Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Vivien DeLancoure’s “Sometimes time doesn’t heal wounds” brings together two very different aesthetics into a glorious union. On the one hand there is the baroque delicacy of the filigreed bird cages. Then there is the Steampunk/Goth fight-ready toughness of her boots and gloves, but she is not without her own baroque ornamentation as you can see in her corset. The contrasts are balanced and work so well. The birdcages are all empty suggesting several wounds that are still unhealed. I love the careful balance between the industrial elements and the baroque elements. It’s beautiful and her cast-down eyes create the emotional effect she intends. She also blogs and these items were the Engine Room event that ends October 20th.

In “Noli timere” she says “Don’t be afraid” but then she sticks a bunch of hair sticks down her spine. I love that creativity in her styling. I also love her tritone color palette. Again, she softens the grim elements such as the craquelure on her skin and the painful piercings and spikes down her spine with lace and filigree. It’s a powerful image and anyone would need the reassures to not be afraid.
In “Obsessed” she is literally eating someone’s heart out. It’s gruesome as can be, but I am fascinated by her details and how she does not stint at all in achieving what she envisions, combining different tattoos to get the look she wants. There is this feeling of decay and hunger that radiates from the picture. She is so good at creating characters and stories with her pictures.
Vivien DeLancoure’s photostream is a stunning collection of Dark Fantasy and Goth pictures. There are a few erotic pictures in the genre as well so check it out at home. Every picture is a fully realized story and every picture is worth highlighting. You should definitely give her a follow, but not before bedtime unless you want a few nightmares. Thanks, Wicca Merlin, for the tip.
