Longtime virtual world analyst Nic Mitham just updated his new Metaverse Universe charts, referencing some of my New World Notes posts and other sources, with an emphasis on monthly active users in the leading immersive platforms.
Above is just a sample of the platforms he's tracking. And while I might quibble with some of them, the undisputed metaverse platforms he's tracking here -- Fortnite, ROBLOX, Minecraft, Zepeto, IMVU, Rec Room, VRChat (on the VR section of his larger chart), Second Life -- add up to nearly a half billion monthly active users.
The wild thing? This chart doesn't even track them all. I just chatted with a reporter and argued that a reasonable estimate of metaverse platform usage is closer to 1 billion MAU. But more on that next week. Meantime, read the full Mitham post here.
