Downboy‘s “Seeds” was inspired by the Ukrainian woman who confronted a soldier, telling him “Put these seeds in your pocket, so when you fall, your body will fertilize the ground and sunflowers will grow in your place.” Such a curse. I love how he imagines those sunflowers blooming on a small mound. I also noticed he used the Golden Ratio placing his sunflowers and the horizon.

While he has many fabulous Second Life pics, I chose “Orient Expressive” because it is one of his many pics taken while gaming on his PlayStation. It also showcases his clever title quips. A lot of his picture titles made me grin. This picture is another beautifully composed picture. The uppermost part of the river is a third of the way up and the man is a third of the way from the right hand side.
“Ripples” is inspired by the song from Genesis. [Click here to listen] This is a haunting picture. We presume someone must have been in that wheelchair and we don’t see them in the water. We see a ship in the distance, but too far to credibly be where they have gone. But then, what is the other side in the song?
Sail away, away
Ripples never come back
They've gone to the other side
Look into the pool
Ripples never come back
Dive to the bottom and go to the top
To see where they have gone
Oh, they've gone to the other side
Whether he is taking a shot in Second Life or in another game, Downboy is an excellent photographer with beautiful composition. He is rigorous in using the Rule of Thirds or the Golden Ratio in his compositions. I love his dry sense of humor, for example calling someone resting on a lounge chair overlooking the ocean “Lounge Act” or pictures in a gallery “Exhibitionists.” I think his pictures are extraordinary and the titles are hilarious - making this a very enjoyable person to follow.
