Kunisaki Izumo is a fascinating SL avatar and about as meta as they come. Based on the manga character of the same name, our Kunisaki imagines himself all grown up and running a kabuki theater company on Izumo island. Just as men played women’s roles in Shakespeare’s time, onnagata are men playing the female role. Kunisaki is an onnagata actor. This is a picture of Kunisaki playing Sagi Masume, the Heron Maiden. Here is a photo from the rehearsals for The Heron Maiden. I love the blue lighting. The scene is compelling even without the story.
More recently, Kunisaki has been working on this project, a bonding ceremony for an apprentice geisha. He also has another project going inspired by Black Pink, a modern girl band. He creates separate accounts for his projects so they can be easy to miss. However, the Kunisaki Uzumi about page [click here] lists his several Flickr accounts.
Kunisaki Izumo divides his work into several Flickr accounts, for kabuki, for geisha, and modern girl band but all are united by one thing, Kunisaki is doing big things, performing, using Second Life to reach out and share his culture. He is a great follow in every endeavor
