Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Myra Wildmist has a photographic obsession with observing her avatar from a distance that I find lovely and compelling. “The Passage” is one of my favorites, a glorious picture of her walking out of a tunnel or cave. She is not completely silhouetted, there is just this touch of light on her shoulder. I love how the darkness of the stone creates this frame for her. It’s simply wonderful. She seems to be seeing herself through the eyes of a voyeur.

In “Is someone watching me?” Myra acknowledges that voyeuristic relationship between Myra, the artist, and Myra, the subject. Again, there is the double meaning. Is the woman painted on the wall watching her? Or is she watching herself?
“Bird Watching” is a perfect name for this picture that only shows the shadow of a bird. There is a bit of a double entendre as the camera is watching her watching the bird. I love the lines and angles she creates in this picture. Her photos are purely screenshots with no post-processing, what you see is what she saw in Second Life when she snapped the picture. That means she framed these shadows and angles in-world, not with the cropping tool.
Myra Wildmist’s photostream is not for browsing in the office unless you put the safety filter on, but it is rewarding. I love her unique way of looking at herself, usually from a distance, but not always. [Click here.] But take a look, you will be glad you did. It’s a great example of how much control you can achieve within the viewer itself, not relying on PhotoShop or GIMP.
