As promised last week, here's video of /RealEvilInd running Second Life on Steam Deck -- on Firestorm, specifically, the most popular 3rd party viewer for SL. Framerate looks quite good, and most of the basic activities in SL (walking, interacting with store items, etc.) look fairly easy. You can even use the Steam Deck's touchscreen to text chat (6:35), but that looks pretty aggravating to actually do on a regular basis.
As for doing this on your own Steam Deck, they tell me it's quite easy:
"There's nothing to it. Just follow the Firestorm install instructions, add it to Steam, run it in Steam OS and customize the controls how you like it." (Watch the video above for some tips on customization.)
I'm following up for more details. I'm curious for instance if you can also use VOIP chat through Steam Deck. If you have your own questions about the installation/usage process, please post in Comments and I'll nudge RealEvilInd to hopefully reply.
