Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Tutsy Navarantha’s photostream is rich in extraordinary pictures, so much so that I struggled to find a single theme for this column. I decided to showcase his pictures that feature him as a witness. He takes many pics of himself, usually in silhouette, observing the land- or cityscape. “Nothing to do but walk” is an excellent example.

“Sunset at Dyrholaey” is another great silhouette of Tutsy as he contemplates the view. The seascape looks like a painting. Is that the effect of a dirty window mimicked by an overlay? The sharp foreground is in start contrast to the background, framing it almost as a tetraptych, or four-paneled painting.
“He is back” is an example of two of Tutsy’s themes, that of the witness and also his love of surrealism. I love how he frequently employs multiple light sources. In the first picture and this one, a streetlight illuminates him while the moon lights up the night.
I interview Tutsy back in 2018 [Click here for interview] where he said he like to take lots of pictures spontaneously and then find one that inspires him. He said, “Personally I prefer instant photos. I film and photograph a lot in SL. It often takes a while, sometimes quite long, before I look at my captures and feel inspired to work on a certain photo.”
Please browse Tutsy Navarantha’s photostream and keep an eye out for the corvids. He loves crows and ravens, or at least I think he does as he frequently features them in his pictures. Another thing to look out for is his frequent surreal pictures. They are brilliant and deserve a column of their own someday.
