This Second Life Photographer Defies Convention to Shoot the Grungiest, Least Glamorous Virtual Lifestyle Images Possible

Karma Weymann’s photostream is unique, avoiding the usual conventions of Second Life photos. Instead of high fashion and luxury seaside homes, she gives us low-rent apartments and making do. There’s no luxury on her timeline and that makes it unique and fresh. She’s resolutely iconoclastic and imaginative. This made me think of Portland and the persistence of the protesters, many of whom wore bike helmets to protect their heads from police batons and other hazards. However, Black Bloc members would not be caught dead with a flowered shirt tied around their waist.

“A Little Busy” is another relatively unusual Second Life photo. I’ve seen other bathroom photos, but this bathroom is so grungy, Soundgarden probably recorded there. I love this picture because it is grungy and I’m not sure about sitting on that seat, but then she does keep her pristine sneakers off the floor. 

”The Hangover” seems to fit into the same life as the other pics. Waking up to a mess and a hangover with the detail of those tired eyes is perfectly done. She has an unerring ability to capture a mood. She often captures feelings of loneliness and alienation giving her pictures emotional weight. 

Karma Weymann’s ability to capture a mood and project an entire lifestyle in her pictures is captivating. Her timeline is not for work-break browsing, so browse it at home because you don’t want to miss her more adult pictures including this showstopper nude or this inventive futuristic pic.
