Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Krooked is not trying to make beautiful pictures. His pictures are arresting. They grab hold of you and don’t let go. Together with Pearl Jam lyrics, they have more to say than just look at how pretty I am. Take this picture “Just Breathe” She is bent over with her torso twisted and her hands contorted. The title is “Just Breathe” and the song so brilliantly balances different ideas, since it is played at both weddings and funerals. I think this picture captures the breathless passion in the lyrics and the equivocation between celebrating love and acknowledging mortality.

So you might laugh, but when I first glanced at “Alive” I thought of Ray Sawyer, the lead singer of Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show, the band who sang songs written by Shel Silverstein, the beloved children’s poet, songs definitely not suitable for children. No eye patch, though.
“Alive” is also inspired by the Pearl Jam song of the same name. He quotes from the song: “Do I deserve to be? /Is that the question? / And if so, if so who answers? / Who answers?”
I am much less philosophical and thought of the song, “I Got Stoned and I Missed It.
“I Am Mine” is accompanied by lyrics from another Pearl Jam song. The lyrics are quite profound,
“The selfish, they're all standing in line / Faithing and hoping to buy themselves time / Me, I figure, as each breath goes by / I only own my mind.”
I love the emotions on their faces. I also love that they have avatars that are not the least bit cookie-cutter.
Krooked’s photostream is shocking in a good way, full of emotion that is heightened by his use of blur to light to give them a feeling of impermanence, like Polaroids that will fade in the sunlight. They feel spontaneous captures of a moment despite was must be a lot of fiddling with poses and projectors. Not all his lyric inspirations are from Pearl Jam. I thought at first they were because I was first drawn to those pictures, but there are also pics inspired by Bauhaus, Tears for Fears, and even Cyndi Lauper
