This picture by Kev Inette was created to honor the women of Iran who are risking their lives to protest the murder of Mahsa Amini who died after being arrested. Nearly 200 people have died in the protests and over 1,000 have been wounded. The uprising continues to grow despite the risk of police firing on protesters. Kev wrote:
"Les femmes en tant qu'individu ont le droit à leurs propres droits. Elles ont leurs demandes et ont raison de réclamer des droits"
This translates as "Women as individuals are entitled to their own rights. They have their demands and are right to demand rights"
Make it so.

Lalie Sorbet dedicated “In your hands” to the Iranian women. She found a gorgeous installation in Second Life called “The Sisters” or alternately, “The Song of Despair,” that includes statues of women whose faces are partially obscured reminiscent of the hijab. It was a great find and her posing among the women sparks a reminder that the women of Iraq wore mini skirts prior to the 1979 revolution.
Nadjanator’s “The Birdcage” is from 2017, long before the protests began. It is more a comment on the role of women in many, but not all, Islamic countries. She quotes Marily Frye who wrote the feminist “Politics of Reality” where she used the metaphor of a birdcage for systemic oppression.
Consider a birdcage. [...] It is only when you step back, stop looking at the wires one by one, microscopically, and take a macroscopic view of the whole cage, that you can see why the bird does not go anywhere; and then you will see [...] that the bird is surrounded by a network of systematically related barriers, no one of which would be the least hindrance to its flight, but which, by their relations to each other, are as confining as the solid walls of a dungeon." - Marilyn Frye
I loved “The Sisters” installation and had to sign in to check it out myself. As a bonus, here is my picture. To go there yourself, [click here to teleport].
