Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
I always love a photo tribute when someone recreates a photo taken by a real life artist or photographer. It’s much more impressive, though, when the person shows the original so we can all appreciate her effort to honor the original while asserting her own point of view into the picture. With “Ladies” you can see Misaki did not do an exact copy, but instead got her inspiration from the original and then changed it up with the poses, a full body shot, and a more subdued lighting with less contrast. If she had linked to the original, her work would have been even more impressive because how else can we recognize the homage?

“Autumn Equinox” part of a set of pictures of women with different breeds of foxes by Anastasiya Dobrovolskaya. Her website and Instagram, ФОТОГРАФ АНАСТАСИЯ ДОБРОВОЛЬСКАЯ [PHOTOGRAPHER ANASTASIA DOBROVOLSKAYA] has an entire series of fox pictures and there are five other fascinating series, all that seem very synced with the Second Life aesthetic.
For folks interested in seeing more of Dobrovolskaya’s artwork, there is an article in French that talks about her inspiration. It’s also where I learned the name of the picture. La beauté des différentes espèces de renards mise en lumière dans un projet photo mystique The article explains that she loves complex pictures with beautiful women in beautiful dresses, outdoors, and with animals. Google Translate did a great job.
Misaki’s photostream is full of fashion shoots and she provides credits in the description. That’s the majority of her stream, but she occasional takes a detour for something completely different. I really love the pictures when she tells a story, such as here, here, and here. Have you done an homage to a great picture? How about tagging your picture with #SLHomage and linking to the original so we can enjoy how you recreate and alter the original.
