Click here to join the Discord server for Crystal Frost, the Second Life viewer on Unity project I blogged last week and the brainchild of longtime dev Berry Bunny (Kallisti#2038 on Discord). Starting today at Noon PT, Bunny's going to livestream her development of Crystal Frost there, an eventually announce the release of a usable client:
"I will be posting screenshot highlights to the public areas of the Discord after I finish each coding session," she tells me. "Basically the Discord will have daily updates and screenshots Mondays through Thursday, and once I get a somewhat usable client going (even if it's not ready to replace other viewers), which I hope to do by the end of the month, I'll be posting weekly binaries."
She also launched an optional Patreon for the project:
"I'm mainly using the Patreon thing because I don't know the first thing about modern web development and can't really afford a host or domain name or anything at the moment," she explains. "So it's a convenient way to post progress updates, and if anybody wants to help they can."
That includes announcements of the project's roll-out:
I'm still working on sorting out the Patreon levels, but all blog posts will be viewable through Patreon without having to pay. There will be 2 Patreon levels. $1 or more gets you access to a Patreon only section on the Crystal Frost discord, and $10 or more gets you access to the a private Github where sourcecode updates will be posted for tier 2 patrons.
Once I have the client being stable and somewhat usable, I'll add a $5 tier that will give you access to the latest Windows binaries (I can't personally test on anything but Windows at the moment, so I can't support anything else) for testing.
Once again, here's a link to the Crystal Frost Discord.
