Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Tess V shoots magnificent photos for her Flickr microblog. And by the title of this picture, we should send her belated birthday wishes. What I love about her pictures is her sharp black and white style and her thoughtful and brilliant use of bento in positioning her hands. It reminds me of the iconic picture of Greta Garbo taken by Clarence Sinclair Bull, I believe.

“Brain Power” is a striking picture that nods to the convention of diagonal pictures to show more of the dress in 390 pixels of height, but doesn’t go to the irritating extreme. I love this look in black and white and again, she’s making full use of her hands.
Tess V takes great pics. She thinks about every element down to the position of her pinkies. I think black and white almost always adds to a picture, making it feel more important. Perhaps that’s a holdover from the days when pictures were not digital and black and white lasted longer than color so were the preferred for archival photos. In a color photo, viewers can be distracted from the photographer’s focus by the colors. Here is a good discussion of color vs black-and-white if you can ignore all the ad popups.
