Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Mavis Tinúviel’s “The Phoenix” is a great example of how she puts as much effort into her background setting as she does into styling the avatar. I love the fiery strands hanging down in this picture that seems ablaze with heat.
Years ago, a former SL resident used to criticize pictures, asking WTF? One of her peeves was pictures where the outfit and the background were the same color.
Pictures like this show how wrong she was. Yes, contrast does make it easier to see details and sometimes complementary colors create a dynamic interplay, but this picture would not be so striking nor so powerful if the background were not as fiery as the subjects.

“In Eywa’s Eye” is another picture where the colors of the background and avatar (inspired by the Avatar movies) are similar. Again, it works to reinforce the mood of the picture. You should note this was posted on February 15th, a day after Valentine’s Day. Now look again and see how their slicked back hair and profile create a heart. Awww! Now that’s clever.
“The Dark and Deadly” plays on our fear of the dark, making her nearly a shadow, her form revealed by will o’ the wisp and the gleam of her gold ornamentation and golden eyes. She seems menacing and powerful precisely because she is a dark creature of the night coming out of the darkness.
Mavis Tinúviel’s photostream is full of roleplay pictures that have a strong emotional impact. They are color rich with a clever use of color to emphasize and reflect the avatars. She really deserves to have many more followers, so click that FOLLOW button because her pics are fun and beautiful.
