Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
TitanticLynn Ayres is drawn to tunnels, not just in this very obvious and mind-bending picture, but also in how she photographs streets, the grass between buildings, and water leading out to sea. It’s how she finds lines in the world she looks at. She sees the pattern, the repetition, and captures it so we can glimpse those patterns and discover there is always a trajectory. This picture, though, is hypnotic. There is not just the solid tunnel of concrete triangles, there is also a tunnel made of shadows and one made of light. Yet, there is nothing claustrophobic about this tunnel as it is open every few feet to the water and the open air. It’s simply stunning.

Her original shot of this subway she called Old City, as it fades into black, it seems to become infinite. This picture, though, shot with wireframe is the New City and it’s pure magic. Doesn’t it just feel like something futuristic, a new cyber sort of world? Yes, it is recognizable as a subway and there’s the stairs all pointed in bricks. Even that seems fresh and new.
“I Know Not Where the Road Will Lead” drew me with its intense color. The railroad feels so solidly there, as though some giant had imposed it on the world and it will remain forever, indestructible. It feels more solid than a mere collection of pixels yet those cracks in the cement are so foreboding. We know they are the signs of destruction, the roots of trees breaking through what man has made, a sign that even something so solid and imposing as this cannot resist the slow creep of nature taking back its proper place.
TitanticLynn Ayres’ photostream is a place where you can lose yourself for hours. She has some amazing art including this two-part stunner: The Gentlemen and The Gentlemen2 or this macabre collage but I am most fascinated by her ability to see trajectories, to find the lines and make us follow them. She says she is just an amateur photographer, but then she has a natural gift.
