Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Skaya’s “The Hug We All Need” captured my attention in part because it’s such an unusual framing of a picture of a hug. It’s shot from a distance. The couple and the dog are small and centered on a slightly askew horizon. There’s something about the vastness of the land and ocean and the smallness of the couple that makes this very appealing. This photo was a collaboration and her partner did a very compelling, much more intimate, picture of the same scene with excellent use of depth of field.

“He’s Still My Baby” is a fun picture, the only color coming from the classic Fisher-Price xylophone while she is a high-contrast stark black and white. I love how she chose to use color, emphasizing the tiny xylophone.
“Lady Chatterley’s Lover” portrays a scene from D. H. Lawrence’s infamous novel that managed to get banned all over the place. It was banned in the U.K., Australia, India, Japan, and the U.S. because it was sexually explicit and used naughty words. How times have changed. It’s fun to see someone illustrate a scene from a book with Second Life.
Skaya’s photostream is not easily characterized. You can see how different these pictures are. She’s an experimenter, trying different approaches and that makes for some fascinating pictures.
