More importantly, the incentives for the platform owner change dramatically; in particular if it is a free-to-play platform like VRChat, where spending time in one (non-monetized) world means spending less time in other (monetized) worlds.

Without creator economy, the platform owner has an interest in helping all creators to build better worlds that players want to spend time in, and help players finding the worlds that match their interests.

With creator economy, the platform owner suddenly has a very strong financial incentive that players spend time and money in monetized worlds; which the platform owner could achieve by featuring or advertising or ranking up successfully monetized worlds in search results.

It's a whole different game.
