Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Foxx Ghoststar has some gorgeous landscapes in his Flickr stream which is largely a photographic travelog of his wanderings in Second Life. He occasionally shoots pics of himself out and about, enjoying a sunset or the ocean breeze. His more unique photos feature his fox avatar on the trail of beautiful places. “A dream of leaving to anywhere” is my favorite. It has the feeling of an illustration for a children’s book. One I want to read.

“Fox under the moon” is a rare headshot of a fox. I love the dramatic gaze out of the frame. It has a Napoleonic feeling. He is alert, his ears up and forward to hear the slightest sound. His mouth is slightly open so he can use the roof of his mouth to interpret the slightest scents in the air. (Cats, dogs, and foxes, too, have a secondary olfactory sensor in the room of their mouths and they need to open their mouths like this to use it.) I love the moonlight on the clouds and that tiny bit of his nose and neck brightly illuminated by it.
“Fly Away” shows our fox standing up and warning two birds that they should fly away. Is there some unseen danger? Is the fox the true danger and his warning is just some fair play? I don’t know. He looks happy and friendly.
Foxx Ghoststar’s stream is a delight and there are several surprises such as this lovely illustration and this other one. He experiments from time to time, making illustrations out of his screenshots. However, just as they are, his screenshots are beautiful.
