Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
“Figures laying on a giant computer keyboard…l” from Torley is almost nine years old but still captures the feeling of despair when our electronic companions are being repaired.
This was me since last Thursday waiting for my laptop to be repaired. My warranty expires in nineteen days and cannot be extended, so at least the timing was good. But still, I was a regular fretnik. Which made me think about folks and their computers and what Second Life artists had to say.

Amah Blanco’s set up is terrifying. ♛ Morning ! - ♕• 51 •♛ shows someone with an epic system of giant servers as well as a laptop with three monitors. No wonder there is a sticker that says “Eat, Sleep, Game, Repeat.” She looks happy and that’s what counts, but I think her dog wants a walk.
♡Sᴠєᴠα Kιчσɾι Mαi♡ gives us a moment of humor in “Ouch, it Happened Another Time” This is an embarrassing way to be AFK. When will he notice? Falling asleep at the keyboard is a common theme, though this is the only take on it like this.
Something about ΛDΛM (XI1569) in Discovery makes me think he is part of a plot to take over the universe. Maybe it’s the intent look at his laptop, as though he can see into and through it to the various galaxies he is going to evaporate with a simple push of the enter button.
There is something very meta about pictures of us in Second Life sitting at a laptop watching us in Second Life. Worlds within worlds. I wonder how many iterations one could achieve? Of course my favorite pics of SL and laptop are the first life pics of my old cat, Oscar, who died a few years back. He had a fascination for the keyboard keys. I have altogether too many pics of him with the laptop.
