Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Fingol Greyhaven has found his niche and he’s not just sticking with it, he’s taking it to a whole new level. Take “Here’s Hoping There’ll Always Be a Cowboy.” What can you say but wow and how did he do that. It looks like a screen shot from a game like “Red Dead Redemption.” It’s amazing. Usually, folks like to show the subject walking into the frame, not out. But walking out of the frame is what a cowboy does, “living on the road my friend.” The title comes from a different song, one by George Fox, “Here’s Hoping (There’ll Always Be a Cowboy.)”

“Can’t Remember Never Loving You” is another great cowboy picture. The forest behind him looks like something out of a Constable painting. He has the look of a Clint Eastwood anti-hero, someone who does what needs to be done, paying the moral cost of making the community safer. The picture’s title comes from Ian James’ song, “Can’t Remember Never Loving You."
“Ain’t No Grave” is inspired by Johnny Cash’s cover of an old song by Claude Ely in his American VI album released after his death, one of the several albums recorded at the end of his life when thoughts of mortality occupied his mind and music. This picture is gorgeous. Note how he applies the Rule of Thirds - also in his first picture. His pictures are interesting because he is looking away, making us wonder what he is thinking and in this case, he’s thinking “ain’t no grave can hold my body down.”
Fingol Greyhaven made fabulous pictures. There have an emotional impact, probably heightened by my brother and his wife taking me to every Clint Eastwood movie that ever existed. What amazes me is his most recent picture is from 2018. I am sorry we are missing what he could be shooting now.
