Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Ann Forbes is new to me, I found one of their pics in someone’s favorites and found so many pictures that I like.
This picture above, though, just blew me away with the bold colors. This shows you how fantastical you can make our virtual world by playing around with the environment settings. I love the color intensity and how the flowers in the foreground almost become one with the forest thanks to the sun’s colors. It’s a great picture but it is not indicative of what you will find in their photostream, mainly because nothing is. Each picture is sui generis.

“Twiggyesque” has a distinct pop art feeling with the striking colors and her very Seventies style. Even the mascara on her lashes with the dramatic spiky lines is very Seventies. I love how it’s cropped so we don’t see all of her, inferring her hair and the rest of her outfit.
“Flashmans Closing” is one of several pictures commemorating the very original and much-loved Flashmans SL club closing in July. With an overlay of water on glass, you get the sense of the site being seen through tears. It has an impressionistic feeling. As though Claude Monet and John Constable took turns.
Ann Forbes is an original. A fan of Second Life art and film, Forbes has highlighted exhibitions, music clubs and film festivals. They have also taken a lot of shots of SL graffiti which strikes me as a fantastic subject. A lot of pics are fun such as “Finny” a pic with a cartoon fish and a woman and they are both making the same expression. Then there is “Coercive Control” a public-service artwork taking the idea of a boot on the neck quite literally. The only consistency with Forbes is that there is no consistency in artistic genre or style, but perhaps in theme, with a consistent fascination for the arts, music, theater, and painting and for snapping avatars they meet along the way.
