Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
CRUD’s “Itch-it-a-cop-it-a-Mel-a-ka-mys-ti-ca” recalls an epic moment in the movvie Hocus Pocus, and doesn’t he look like his bones are bending and twisting into a new shape? He catches him mid-transformation. I love how he doesn’t try to look pretty, which is how you can recognize his work. It’s not pretty,, but it is emotional and powerful. His avatars are unique. He forges his own path.

“The Bodysnatcher” looks like a film poster, though in this case, he seems to be interpreting body snatching as kidnapping and not so much as aliens inhabiting and controlling bodies. There is this looseness to their avatars that I love. I hope loose is the right adjective. They just seem as though they don’t require 4 HUDs to get out the door.
“Transylvania 6-5000” clearly refers to the swing classic Pennsylvania 6-5000. I love this postcard, especially the message “Glad you’re not here.” It could be meant kindly as they don’t look like theyre having a great amount of fun. Notice how their avatars always look a little worse for wear. Wind-chapped skin, reddened eyes, as though living a perpetual hangover. Their lives are rough and it shows.
CRUD’s photostream is so exciting. I am always looking for people who blaze new trails and experiment. Second Life is about experimentation, creation, and imagination and it’s wonderful when someone imagines themselves in a new way. There is nothing conventional about CRUD’s work and that will keep me coming back.
