Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Marina Münter’s “Tout le temps du prélude” made me think of those old rotating color wheels people used to cast colors onto the tinsel or, if it was a vintage aluminum tree, color the entire tree. Look at the vivid blue, green, and yellow. The pose is bold and sensual and her outfit is a shocker. You can get a closer look on her Flickr that takes the word bodysuit literally. This picture, though, is magical with the way she uses color to define space, the distant street in blue, the green framing from the buildings, and then the heart of the picture all in a gorgeous golden glow. Magic.

“Reserved” is a gorgeous portrait of Marina as seen through a wine glass. Isn’t it spectacular? I love that she reversed expectations, using depth of field to bring the view through the glass into sharp focus and blurring the rest. And those gloves! The contrast between her beautiful outfit and those menacing gloves, both in color and emotional subtext is jolting.
This untitled picture is something I’ve been looking for: an innovative use of Midjourney and Second Life screenshots. The framed picture was created with Midjourney based on the art of Artemisia Gentileschi, an accomplished artist who was tortured while testifying in a trial against the man who raped her. It’s almost like she has a conversation with the artist telling the woman her troubles, though the artist is far more interested in her wine.
I imagined that was happening before I read the artist’s description: “I caught myself talking to Artemisia, born 300 years before me, several times in this process. Crazy to realize we end up relating to an Italian Baroque artist from the 17th century.“"
Marina Münter’s stream shows an artist who takes Second Life seriously as an artistic medium. I’ve featured her work before. She tries new approaches and her stream is always fresh and exciting.
