Ren Matsura - れんまつら never disappoints and I have featured the LETCIRREN blog before back in 2020. But Don’t Go Yet is too magical to not stop and share. I love this on so many levels. The utter shock of seeing an elephant on an old chaise lounge is the first delight, but then there is the perfection of the man posed so delicately at the far end, holding a tea cup with pinky extended, legs crossed. A perfect dandy! And then, suddenly, his feet aren’t touching the floor. The elephant has lifted him off the ground and he hasn’t lost a whit of his poise. His suit is immaculate and his shoes shine so perfectly.

Treat You Better gives us another gorgeous dandy, this time in a gorgeous braided jacket, a spectacular jabot, and plus fours that tuck neatly into boots that are not in the frame. Regency men often wore plus fours (trousers that extend four inches below the knee) so they seamlessly fit into the men’s boot without disgusting wrinkles or bunching. Nothing to mar the perfect lines and fit that was demanded in men’s fashions of the time. He’s leaning against a zebra who placidly looks on, secure in knowing that nothing made by humanity could compete with his dazzling stripes. The relaxed pose makes the interplay with the zebra perfect.
These pics with animals are a recent theme in Ren Matsura - れんまつら’s work and this theme is delightful. I cannot wait for more.
