Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Kynne Llewellyn is such an excellent Flickr artist whom I have followed for so long, I thought I had featured her long ago. Last week, Alicia Chenaux asked if I had ever written about Kynne and I started to say yes, but decided I better check.
Well, now we’re in Oversight City. I am correcting that today.
Kynne dresses her avatar in so many kinds of roleplay avatars it’s a wonder she can keep them straight. She also places them in the perfect settings for their role. Unlike many roleplay bloggers, her avatars are in pacific scenes, no swords and pistols necessary. I love this lovely “Spring” picture she shared recently. The pink and green of the kimono echoes the pink of the cherry tree blossoms and the green grass. Pink and yellow daffodils and green butterflies repeat the color scheme. The cherry tree outside my new apartment is in the exact same stage of bloom, allowing my cat to watch the birds and squirrels on its many branches without the cover of leaves. My cat, however, is not feeling the least pacific.

I love “Sickbed” for the way it captures that kind of floating dislocation of being in a hospital where you just lie there waiting for things to be done to you. The bed isn’t even on the ground and her avatar floats gently above the bed. The nursing rabbits circle her with their various implements and pills. I recognize this feeling and I love how she captured it.
“Thyra” is another great example of how beautifully she completes a scene. Thyra was Queen of Denmark in the early 10th century and her story can be found in Snorri Sturlason’s Heimskringla. I love the attention to detail that pairs the dress named after a famed Viking queen with the appropriate furniture, the Viking longboat decor, the wooden horns and staff. The dress, staff, and horns are from three different stores but come together beautifully. As with all her pictures, she composes the picture thoughtfully, using rules of composition like the Rule of Thirds. I knew a Thyra, my elementary school principal. Like the queen, she could strike terror in your heart with just a glance.
Kynne Llewellyn’s photostream is sure to spark your imagination because every picture tells a story and waits for you to fill in the details.
