Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Shun. 沈 [untitled] has a photostream full of wild pictures, some roleplay, some romantic, some simply inexplicable like “The Mysterious Room.” At first glance, it seems like a lovely library in a stately home. At second glance, perhaps the stately home of Dr. Moreau. I definitely see a few Audreys. The plants that provide the spectral lighting are unlike the plants in anyone else’s library. The aquarium does not have the guppies, mollies, tetras, and zebrafish you usually encounter. This is definitely a mysterious room.

“The Secret Meeting” is a collaboration dreamed up by Shun and done with a group of friends who often come together for picture projects. I have written about them before.
As Shun describes in his description, “What would it be like in a secret meeting of a group of billionaires where money and power are all they ever care of...That for me would be an eerie scene…” Each person is wearing one of the Seven Deadly Sins masks on sale at The Engine Room through April 20th. [Teleport to The Engine Room]. Loute Diesel posted her version here.
“Mandrake” is a picture of a Githyanki elf guarding some mandrakes. I had to look up Githyanki and discovered they are a Dungeons & Dragons humanoid. Mandrake roots have two “legs” below a trunk which makes them look sort of human. Add to this the hallucinogenic and toxic properties of the plant and you have a recipe for all sorts of legends and myths. This picture seems to capture their eerie qualities. Mandrakes are in one of my favorite poems, by John Donne, that begins “Go and catch a falling star, get with child a mandrake root…”
Not for nothing, mandrakes contain scopolamine, the active ingredient in motion sickness patches. Thanks, mandrakes.
Shun. 沈 is definitely someone to follow. His stream is varied with some of his contemporaries hanging out with friends, playing sports, and, of course, romance. Then there are his roleplay pictures. But whether he’s creating a complex group picture, a snap during a basketball game, a romantic encounter, or a self-portrait, Shun goes all out setting the scene and getting all the details right. His stream is a joy.
