Equimake is a seriously cool, free-to-use platform for collaborative real-time 3D creation on the web partly inspired by my book; starting next month, I'm proud to announce Equimake is a sponsoring media partner to New World Notes!
Created by Canadian developer Alexander Yevsyeyev, you can not only share, create, and script interactive 3D scenes with others, but Alex is rapidly adding features which enable more integration of content -- for instance, you can embed images from Imgur or Flick into an Equimake scene. (Watch above.) And yes, Alex tells me he's hoping to add integration with Primfeed and other social media platforms.
"My passion is helping people and see them grow," as he puts it. He recently led a team of artists, programmers, and QA on a large project, and this experience helped shape what he hopes to do with this self-funded project.
"Equimake is aimed to help learners get better grip on technology, and try to tinker with 3D art and code and see what they like or dislike about it. For advanced users, I also plan to make Equimake fun and engaging where they can either teach others, share knowledge, or simply deploy their amazing art and code."
Developer notes from Alex:
- Equimake is a community-first platform that encourages people share their feedback on Discord or public roadmap
- It will always have a free plan empowering consumers to create interactive 3D Web Experiences on the web
- It is NOT a competitor to Second Life but rather a nice addition to empower those who do not want to pay for expensive sims to host their virtual worlds. Equimake plays nicely with Second Life as it is web based and doesn't require installation, anyone can navigate your Equimake experience from Second Life.
- In the future it will be possible to embed Equimake inside Second Life (similar to how people embed YouTube)
- It works on PC, Mobile and Tablet so you can always chat with others from your phone or build together on PC , Tablet and your phones.
- It is the platform for people built by the people and I am interacting with users daily for the past months collecting feedback and adding features.
Here's his roadmap for the near future:
My vision for 12 months :
- Extension system which would allow people build games, simulations and add behavior to their code.
- Premade 3D templates: Art Galleries, 1st person games, 3rd person games, social hubs, to help people get started
- AI Gen, which will be pretrained on Equimake's code to help new comers learn code and understand how to write their first extension. AI Gen will not replace creative spheres and will not be used unethically for art.
- Potentially bundling Equimake as a native app and release on Steam.
Excited to help him on this mission to equalize shared 3D development on the web! Check it out here.
Super excited to partner with you!
Let me link Equimake's public roadmap where people propose new ideas and vote on them. If you have a use case that is currently not covered by Equimake or wish to have a new feature, just put it here https://equimake.productlane.com/roadmap
