Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Incognito Pseudonym is not only the most accurately named avatar, he is a creative and fabulous Second Life artist. “Hennessy” is a deceptively simple picture. After all, it’s just a guy with a bottle of cognac. You might think it’s just black & white, but the color is there, just deeply desaturated. A very subtle linear blur gives it depth. I love it.

“Dark Room” made me smile. His chair and his pose are reminiscent of the chair dance so popular in cabarets and burlesque shows, not to mention the Madonna video. It’s a common cheesecake pose for women, so his picture feels subversive. I don’t know whether he intended to subvert gender norms and make a subtle feminist statement. After all, Corbin Bleu does Sally Bowles dance, so who knows? All I am certain of is that this is a subtly provocative picture that makes the best use of chiaroscuro to enhance its appeal.
“Contemplating” is another excellent picture. I love how dark it is but you still see where the light comes in. He is inside the door, making the picture more inviting. I love how the background feels so graphical, almost hand-drawn with the grain in the lighting and the lines of the brick wall. It makes the plaid shirt almost seem like a riff on the brick wall. Fabulous!
Incognito Pseudonym only has thirteen pictures in his stream and I still had a hard time picking only three pictures. His pics are bold, demanding attention. And they deserve attention.
