Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Matt Evans did what I asked Second Life residents to do and asked me to check out his pictures. However, he had an unusual reason.
His picture above was created to speak out about the dangers of opioid addiction and ask people to listen to a song, “Maybe It’s Time”, because all profits are being donated to Global Recovery Initiatives. The song is a project by Artists for Recovery who are donating all royalties.
As Matt writes to me: “It's a strong message and one that needs more exposure than it receives.” Indeed it does. How many of us are untouched by opioid addiction among friends and family? I wondered if others in the SL Flickr community had done pictures about opioid addiction, but nothing came up in searches. I was surprised by that because SL Flickr often reflects real life.

“Pieces” is another striking picture. It’s funny how the fractures of his face almost seem to come from other faces by changing the angle of the eyes a bit. I like the effect.
“Cab Ride” is another great picture. I love how he used light in this picture, the gentle subdued light from the unseen street lamp illuminates his face. There are the small taillights, the neon on the diner. It’s simply lovely.
Matt Evans has only nineteen photos, more a photo tributary than stream, but there are some gems. I appreciate his work and his effort to amplify the efforts to support addiction recovery.
