Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Sandy Phlipp’s “Misty Mountains” is a stunning picture. I love how the sun shines through the clouds and the between the long needles on that evergreen that has grown sideways under the pressure of constant mountain winds. I love the detail of the birds flying above the tree, into the sunlight. Though this is a more rugged scene, the clouds and the light in this picture remind me of John Constable’s landscapes. “Waves, Seagulls, and a Lighthouse” is an witty title as it is both flatly true and obviously an understatement. This is such a clever, unusual angle for shooting a pic of a lighthouse. I love it. I love that she didn’t zoom out to get the upper edges of the waves, leaving us to see beyond the frame. I love how from above there seem to be these connected circles of spindrift, the island, and more of the spindrift kicked up by the waves. It’s an exciting, dynamic picture. [To teleport, click here]
“A Lonely Bird Who Enjoys Watching the Waves” is another gorgeous landscape. It does seem a choice as there are dozens of birds in the distance. Our eyes are drawn to the distance by several leading lines, the big row of big rock outcroppings, the wedge of grass narrowing toward the horizon, the rocky beach which almost seems like an uncomfortable road into the distance, and the waves softly coming ashore.
