Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
The Outer Garden is a lovely place to visit if you want to walk through a dream. It is also a Flickr group with over 1,000 members and 3,000 pictures. “Déjà vu” by Maquia captures the hallucinatory elements of a dream, a dream where a circus wagon seems as large as a moon that rests on a silken sea. Seb gives us the romance of a ballet in “Contretemps.” Her skirt flies up almost like the wings of a fairy. The setting seems perfect for a performance of Les Sylphides. I love how he adds dimension with depth of field and the impression of light coming from the left. Simply beautiful.
Stella Guardian shows us what a little light or a little less light can do. The ethereal garden of white flowers and bubbles and streamers and waterfalls is suddenly grim, reminiscent of photos of war zones with the rubble of a building that has collapsed in on itself.
And then Raz gives us another mood with “Sorrow” showing how one place can be interpreted and understood in so many different ways.
Bisou Dexler opened a new part of his garden in April, refreshing the scene for visitors and offering a new palette in reds, blacks, and white. It’s bold and brilliant and this poster captures the minimalist beauty that offers such a strong contrast with the abundance of his white garden. He also recounts the story that inspired his garden.
The Outer Garden is a group that has lasted nine years without collapsing into a spam-filled collection of SL hodge-podge. That’s a long time to keep checking the photo submissions and to continue to refresh and revitalize a lovely garden sim.
