Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Mother Road - Mirage Motel has been around for seven years. In fact, the Flickr group’s seven year anniversary is coming up in just four days, so Happy Anniversary!
The group c celebrates that fabulous sim by Paul Cutter, Mother Road-Mirage Motel, and gives you a sample of folks getting their kicks on Route 66. I love Rosie Nova’s untitled picture. It looks like a couple stopped on their way in one of those no-name towns with at most one semaphore. It’s one of those lonely towns where people watch life passing them by. [To Teleport: Click Here]

Mari Seesaw gives us another lonely picture with her adorable cat walking along the highway. I love the conceit of posting her pictures as the old-fashioned photos developed from film. The kind where you could take rolls of film on a vacation and not know until you get home that you tend to hold your finger in front of the camera. Mari does no such thing. Her pictures are happily beautifully composed so they invoke feelings of nostalgia and peace.
Jonathan Negru takes us back to the Thirties and Bonnie & Clyde whose history is entangled with the mythic Route 66.
Theo Kline gives us the famed road sign as she’s fleeing in “The Getaway.” Who or what are they fleeing? Wasn’t Route 66 the chosen road of flight from the law, the past, poverty, and despair and from themselves for thousands of people. But maybe we should think of it not as the road away from the past but the road to the future, a road as full of hope as anything else.
Mother Road - Mirage Motel has 1175 members and over three thousand photos. It’s an old group but unlike many old groups, it is still moderated and free of the spam that pollutes so many Second Life groups. It’s reaching the venerable age of seven (that’s 63 in Flickr years and 49 for dogs) which is something to celebrate, especially when it is still a lively group that continues to bring us great pictures.

Cajsa’s Choices is devoted to unique, artistic, and innovative virtual world-based images and screenshots that showcase the medium as an art form and Second Life as a creative platform. (Generally not images that fit on this Bingo card.) Cajsa Lilliehook is a sixteen year resident of Second Life, where she owned a photo studio, spent several years as a DJ at The Velvet, and for her first SL job, cleaned up prim trash. She co-founded and runs the It’s Only Fashion blog with her best friend Gidge Uriza. She also has a book review blog, Tonstant Weader Reviews and a cooking blog, Single Serving Recipes. She spends a lot of time researching and reporting on Republican sexual predators. In her first life, she is a retired grassroots leader who has worked for economic and social justice issues most of her life. She is also the minion of a cat named Nora.
