Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
My cat is determined to sit on my arms so I can’t see the keyboard or the bottom half of the screen.† I am determined to get this column done. So, I decided to focus on the cats of Second Life. I found a group called Feline Fellowship SL organized by Samsara Capalini. The very first picture was this fabulous capture by Panda Banana with a brave feline fighting a wooden dragon. It made me laugh because my cat is also very brave when fighting anything that can’t fight back and threatening critters on the other side of the window. I love that he includes a link to his raw shot so you can see how he edited it to make it more vibrant.

Lorrie Agapi gives us the delightful “Unexpected Guest” made even more delightful by the story she wrote in the description. She made me laugh with her humorous description of a rotund cat trying to get up on the chair to eat. “With all the grace of a wobbly marshmallow, Sir Puddingbottom tried to hoist his plump body onto the chair. After three dramatic and somewhat tragic attempts, he finally made it, teetering like a jelly donut on the edge of a teacup.” There’s more, go read it.
Serene Shores presents “Cats up to No Good in the Kitchen” which could just be called “Cats” given their propensity for being up to no good. He also writes a fun description of events which are deceptively harrowing as ginger cat is about to tackle Audrey’s cousin.
Dicky Jackman snapped “Sara vs. the Taxidermy Leopard” and it feels so true. Cats are brave and bold little creatures who aren’t afraid to tackle much bigger animals. Sara reminds me of my old cat Gatinha who, when she was 23 years old and nearly toothless, chased a chow off our block. It felt so rich because the woman walking the chow told me to take my cat inside because she couldn’t keep him from attacking even though she was sitting on my lap. Well, we showed her!
Do check out Feline Fellowship SL and join. Lots of residents have cats, show them off. With only 530 members, this group has over 6000 pictures, a testament to how much people love their cats.
† All but the last paragraph was supervised by a cat. I know this is supposed to be an asterisk for the first footnote but every time I made an asterisk it turned into a bullet list.
