Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Kat Verde-Dillingham transformed her screenshot from Bryn Oh’s most recent exhibition into something so brilliantly different that it tells a completely different story. For reference, I popped in and took a WYSIWYG snapshot using Bryn Oh’s experience. There is such exuberant joy in Kat’s version. The way she filled the elements with patterns reminds me of Gustav Klimpt -- a very merry Gustav Klimpt. I love this picture. It’s one I would happily hang on my walls.
Here's the original:
Perhaps dancing away at a dance club is the most universal experience in Second Life. But have we ever looked as cool as this at a dance club? Who knew outlining the avatars would make a picture look like pop art? Well, Kat knew, but who else? I love the lozenge shape, the very slight tilt and the flower stamps. It’s just so all of a piece.
“The Bounty” gives us a sailing ship sailing in a sea of red. She applied a texture that somehow that makes this screenshot look like a paper collage with the cutouts of clouds, the ship, the waves. It’s amazing how transformative it is. Of course, the duotone amplifies the effect of the overlay. I love this.
Kat Verde-Dillingham is an imaginative artist who turns her screenshots into art, creating something completely new. She usually provides SLURLS so you can check out originals. She also does some amazing Midjourney pictures and kindly labels them clearly.
