Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Terry Fotherington shot this incredible image of the Bardeco event venue. Even the streams of sunlight breaking through the fog does not dissipate the eerie feeling that “here be dragons.” The trees in the foreground are as black as can be, a frame of shadows. The sunlight feels slight and attenuated, a cold sunlight. It breaks through, but it does not warm. Any visitor to the club will face serious challenges running away from monsters what with all the shrubbery.

“The Butterfly Effect” was taken at the now-closed sim by that name. I suppose it may have been named after the idea that a butterfly’s wing could result in a tornado a thousand miles away. It inspired a fantastic short story by Ray Bradbury called “A Sound of Thunder” and a terrible film called “The Butterfly Effect.” And in this lovely picture that like the previous picture shows sunlight breaking through the mist. In that picture it felt cold; in this picture it feels warm. I think because it is a richer yellow, it feels warmer.
This untitled picture reminds us that whatever happens in the end, nature wins. Yes, we may be destroying habitats and extinguishing species, but in the ends however long from now, we may be gone and nature will fill the vacancy. Here ferns and grasses are conquering a building. The walls may have been deliberate gardening at first, but the pathway…it’s nature making a home run.
Terry Fotherington has a stream of gorgeous pictures. There are more avatar snaps and they are excellent, too. I just like to focus on one element and his landscapes had a stronger emotional effect for me.
