New on my Patreon: Get a sneak peek of upcoming features to Second Life's mobile app -- and the long-term marketing strategy which drives it. For instance:
"The mobile app was not designed for new users where I spend a million dollars to bring [them in]," as [Linden head Brad] Oberwager put it. "We built the mobile app for current residents... we're not putting marketing dollars to bring in new people." Under their strategy, they even expect mobile users may create an alt account for mobile, yet continue using the desktop client.
I read on a competing blog that people are wondering about virtual land speculation and how Linden Lab is selling land directly to certain individuals for cheaper prices. Then those individuals bring parcels on the market at rates nobody else can compete with. This is creating a monopoly and causes a steep decline in private regions. Linden Lab continues to lose more and more land because of these shady business practices.
Will CEO Oberwager be firm and take responsibility to end these practices on his platform for once and for all?
CEO Oberwager talks how at Linden Lab they are all about equality, yet his company engages in shady business practices like offering land to certain users at steep reductions in tier fees while others need to pay higher prices for the same product.
This results in a declining land mass of private regions without the end being in sight.
