Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Dongo Sama’s “Violence” is one of those pictures that make you stop and look. There’s no scrolling past such a bold and, yes, violent image. The intense expression of the avatar with the tension in his hand and the swirling red and black. Red is a martial color. People who wear red are more likely to be perceived as angry than those wearing blue or green. Yes, that feels violent. It completely achieves its purpose.
Dongo also did the “Amour Eternel” I featured last week. There he used red’s association with love and passion. Color choices often send a message.

Landscapes are more typical of Dongo’s work. “Ragville” is a great shot that focuses on an intriguingly alien landscape where the ground reflects the leaves of the trees. It’s gorgeous and slightly scary. I suppose it’s the red color and our cultural association of red with war and violence as noted above.
“Poêtique” is a fun variation on the everyday beach shot with a sunset and a tree forming a frame in silhouette. Except this tree is long past its last legs and frames a swing. It’s just enough different from the more common beach shot to be refreshing. I hope people check the water is deep enough for jumping off the swing at its apogee or they might break a leg.
Dondo’s stream is full of gorgeous landscapes. He has a few dramatic pictures such as featured here and several snaps of life in SL with his significant others. They are just quick snaps to catch the moment, but the landscapes are beautifully composed. Then there are the striking dramatic pictures such as “Violence”. He’s exploring Second Life and often provides SLurLS so you can enjoy the same beauty.
