Four Favorite SL Photographers on Primfeed, the New Flickr Alternative for Second Life Creators

Casja's column on the great SL photographers on Flickr is being moved to tomorrow, so it's a perfect time to feature some creative accounts on Primfeed, the new Second Life-centric social network. After we put out a call in search of Primfeed talent last week, Graeme Fairelander gave us a glorious list. Here's four of my favorites from that group of twenty-one.

To start, I can't resist a subversive send-up of the famous motorcycle skid from Akira, and Lying Cat (aka @blarn.boo) does one marvelously above. Much more on her feed in this vein, teeming with badass ladies of cyberpunk though she notes, images contain "No AI". (An increasingly frequent artists' note we're seeing on social media images and also machinima video.)

Scylla Rhiadra is a longtime favorite of mine across social media, creator of shadowy, powerful images that evoke Nan Goldin and other great photographers. I'm overjoyed she's now set up on Primfeed!

Ethan Takeda's feed is full of strong men with dark pasts -- and makes great use of ambient, neo-noir bluescreen lighting.

Zalty Peenuts (@psaltee.resident) uses overpainting to give his images a painterly hue (as he explains in his bio), though this one above is from a set a slice of candid cyberpunk life taken in the Blade Runner-themed sim at Themyscira. (Direct teleport here.)

And to repeat what I said on Primfeed, thank you (and Cajsa too) for all of the work you put into highlighting the arts in SL -- photography and so much else as well! It's a really important part of the platform, perhaps now more than ever, and your efforts to showcase the wonderful work people, like all of those on your list above, are creating is a real service.

I know most of those you've listed here, but it will be a pleasure to check out those who are new to me. Thank you!
