Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Jane Bang celebrated her birthday playing Mario Kart with friends. It’s been over five years since I last featured Jane and she is still hanging with friends and having fun in Second Life. The title, “Party Like It’s 1999” takes us back to a time when the scariest thing was Y2K and the songs we loved weren’t played on “oldies” stations. Since that 2019 article, Jane has opened Space Cadet which specializes in poses and pose attachments so there are some vendor pics in her stream but her fun-filled pics continue.

I love this picture. I love how well they dressed for the occasion. Those suits are fantastic. The whole vibe is lovely.
I have a soft spot for the Jazz age, by the way, because of my very strange Aunt, named Merry Christmas. (Don’t laugh, she had a sister named Anna Versary.) She was a hoot and one of my favorite relatives, but she was stuck in the 1920s, when she lived next door to F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald. (Really!) She never left the era, and until she died in her late 90s, wore flapper dresses and cut her perpetually red hair in a bob. She planned her funeral in advance, which included two exercise breaks for the mourners. And yes, the pastor followed her plan to the letter, leading the church in stretches and a walk around the church.
Lest you think Jane’s stream is just fun and games, she posted this picture in early January. While she never names the subject, her description is actually a poem, “From Where I Stand”, that deserves to be shared far and wide:
With every word he speaks, the air feels heavier,
the weight of the consequences like stones in our chests,
creating smog over cities we can barely afford.
Read it all here. It’s prescient, not fooled by all the assurances that it won’t be that bad. She sees with a clear eye and has the same concern I have that we will remain docile. But we won’t, will we?
Jane Bang makes me smile with her photostream. She is still having fun, still hanging with her friends and loving life. I love it.
