Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
“Midnight in Paris” by Pedro may be the name of this gorgeous, exciting picture of the Eiffel Tower but it’s also the name of the Second Life sim where it was shot and of a Flickr group dedicated to the sim. I love how dynamic this picture is and it is just one of a surfeit of fantastic pics in the Midnight in Paris Flickr group. The sim is extraordinary and the pictures in the group reflect that. Samaire Amorosi’s “21 of 365/2025” is a fun, cheeky pic. Of course, folks have to walk on the wall. That’s what it’s there for. This is a brilliant marriage of pose, avatar, and setting. Even her hair suggests her rebellious nature as does the biker jacket. Everything is congruent and working to create the mood. And look at that gorgeous dusting of snow. So very lifelike.
Sare’s “Winter in Paris” captures the sim so well. You can see the buildings, the Seine, the bridges and the tower and it’s just all so beautiful. Don’t you want to be there right this minute?
Handdrawn gives us "l’éclat d’une nuit sans fin" or the brightness of an endless night. Endless night is more literal than usual, since the sim is set to midnight all the time. I love how she uses light to pick out her shape, tracing her body as she balances precariously on the balcony.
Pompette gives us an “Is it live or is it Memorex” moment Wow! This is so true to life. I love the sim details and the way her jacket blows back. It looks like one of those blustery days where everyone knows it’s going to rain any minute, but it doesn’t.
Midnight in Paris (sobe/Brooklyn) is a gorgeous Flickr group created by B. Tomstone. He originally created the Brooklyn sim but has replaced Brooklyn with Paris. I wonder if he will take us around the great cities of the world over time. The group has just over 700 members and 800+ screenshots. The pictures are consistently excellent which makes me wonder…can you take a bad picture at Midnight in Paris?
