Click here to teleport to start adventuring in Everwinter, an ambitious new Second Life-based cyberpunk MMO from Nadir Taov, lead creator of the long-running Crack Den urban roleplay game/community. (Inevitably incredible Everwinter trailer by Teal Aurelia above!) Everwinter is set in a fantastically detailed city surrounded by snowy wasteland, with six interconnected regions for gameplay and exploration. Or, of course, you're free to just wander around as a tourist taking cool photos of the PBR-enabled surroundings.
Everwinter also gives players an AI companion, but unlike the humanoid NPCs of Convai, Nadir's version is much more immersive to the Everwinter backstory:
Nadir with The Wisp at his shoulder
"The idea is 'The Wisp' will have its own kind of personality and interact with you and the world around it," he explains. "It'll have some novel upgrade capabilities down the line using in-game credits that the players earn in the economy system." (There's an in-game money system for doing jobs and missions.)
There's also an LLM back-end that evolves based on the players' in-game activity:
"The more people roleplay, build up their character history with arrest, citation, medical reports filed on them, the more tailored that language you see in the dialog box," as Nadir tells me.
Now, the question is how the SL user community will embrace it.
"I’ve done all I can from a creator’s perspective," says Nadir. "The framework is there, but now it’s up to actual players to step in and breathe life into it. That means writing policy, shaping lore, recruiting leaders, and setting the tone for roleplay. These details can’t be built by one person; they have to emerge from the community itself. That’s how the best roleplay worlds are made."
In other words, as Nadir Taov puts it:
"The community is what brings the world to life."

Starting tips for playing Everwinter from Nadir Taov:
-
Visit the regions! Take in the cyberpunk, dystopia, to post apocalyptic vibes and see if this is an area that inspires you to want to create a character and try to role-play.
-
If so, grab the Story HUD in the welcome hobby and follow the steps to sign up! You should think about who you want to become - the origins for your character and use the lore and character classes to define a starting point.
-
When your character is registered, you'll have the ability to join one of the many businesses available with jobs to earn credits - the currency of the world. The economy system is designed to spark RP, you earn them at jobs, can trade with others, and soon the NPCs will have a role to play in it too.

Join the Discord server and hang tight as we roll out many cool features! (Discord access granted through story HUD after creating an account)
