Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Tiger Studio Landscapes is the official Flickr group for Buddha Garden, a sim I visited yesterday after seeing Stina McGillivary’s pictures. There are so many fantastic pictures in this group, I was spoiled for choice. “Through Your Soul” from Emo Biedermann is special, though.
It made me think of the ending of “Planet of the Apes” even though I don’t think she will be screaming, “You maniacs, you finally did it.” Sea levels are rising and it need not be the kind of epic disaster in the movie, but I do wonder why the Buddha has been toppled and deep in the water. There’s a story I want to know.

“Buddha Garden II” from Sare is one of those pictures that seem more real than virtual. It makes me feel as though she was really there on that island, looking across toward that temple as the fog rose from the warm water into the cool air of the morning. It’s also in black and white and perhaps it’s a cultural artifact of the pre-digital era of photography, but black and white always seems to have more gravitas. Black and white lasts longer than color because of how they are processed and that gives them a permanence that color does not have. Also, black and white really emphasizes forms without the distraction of color. Sare also shared another pic that reminded me of those hand-painted postcards you can find in antique stores.
Jaqui Loire’s “Untitled” is a very different pic. She took her dog along and, of course, he had to play in the cherry blossom petals. And she joined in the fun. I just love the fun of this pic. The sim is so beautiful that every picture has this sense of transcendence and reverence, and then there’s Jaqui playing with her dog. It’s joyful.
Tiger Studio Landscapes is a group with a fabulous collection of pictures. There is so much beauty I doubt you can resist visiting the sim yourself. The Flickr group has pictures from other sims as well, so there is definitely more to explore. With 367 members there is plenty of room to grow.
