Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Uri Jefferson is “Pondering on Fate” in this well-named picture. I love how beautifully he captures the light sources and the naturalistic way light works in this picture. I guess we all should be getting used to beautiful lighting in Second Life, but sometimes when there are multiple sources like this I am still amazed.
Uri cosplays Ancient Rome in SL and I first discovered him when I was looking for Easter pictures and featured his singular picture that captured the story of Easter without a bunny in sight. Since January this year, all his pics have taken place in Ancient Rome and they are wonderful.

“Virtus et Honos” or Strength and Honor is, as Uri explains, more about strength of character than physical strength though the martial focus of Roman society as seen through the lens of history seems to suggest physical strength, at least in combat, was much more important in actions, if not in words.
“A Day at Circus Maximus” shows Uri gazing out over the chariot racing track. There really are chariot races held in the sim which must be a sight to see. Uri describes the picture and the sim in the description:
Gazing out over the beautiful track of the Circus Magnus, home to excitingly brutal chariot races in the Roman city of Aquilonia.
Aquilonia, the Roman Empire’s wealthiest; and most debauched stronghold. From blood to lust, scandal to salacious affairs...this is Rome.
Uri Jefferson is a cosplayer of Ancient Rome in 169 C. E. under the rule of Marcus Aurelius. [Perhaps better known as the kind old emperor murdered by Joaquin Phoenix in Gladiator. - WJA] Uri is also the owner/creator of Aquilonia, the two-sim roleplay community. His pictures portray an exciting place in a time when Rome had a fairly decent ruler, one Machiavelli called one of the “Five Good Emperors” who brought Rome to the apex of imperial power. Also, if you have not read the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius yet, you should. You do not have to be a Stoic to appreciate his good sense and wisdom in many things.
