Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Call Me Kiss posted this gorgeous picture of her virtual cat in a bike basket. At the very moment I saw this pic, my IRL cat gave me some vicious sideeye. She's very good at sideeye.
I have to laugh at the idea of giving my cat a ride in a basket. Forget the ride. I couldn’t get her in a basket in the first place. Still, as improbable as this picture is in my life, it’s a lovely shot in Kiss’ virtual life. I love how her color choices and the lighting make this seem almost like an aged sepia photo from the distant past. Just think for a moment how much less coherent this pic would be with a bright pink blanket on the back of her bike and you will see the conscious choices she made in creating this gorgeous picture. She shot it using Aperture’s lighting. It works.

“The Awakening of Pixie” is a stunning picture of some flowers that have become visible as the mist began to clear near them. I love the picture. I love her description even more. Please take the time to read “The Awakening of Pixie” in the description. There is a moral to her story, one everyone in Second Life should remember. “True existence isn't defined by our form but by the genuine connections we create and the meaningful impact we have on others.”
In “Selfie + post” Kiss asked viewers to choose a favorite between two pictures. The second is here. The pictures are the same apart from the lighting, but what a difference it makes.I like them both and only chose this one because I saw it first. The other is warm, a little mysterious. This is brighter, with more clarity. It’s a good demonstration of the power of lighting.
Kiss takes great screenshots and has excellent Photoshop skills. She tells you if she has done a lot of work in post-production, ranking them from minor to major edits. She does not use AI editing. I love that she is so specific about her work, naming her browser and describing how much she worked on a picture. Though, to be frank, I think her raw screenshots are also lovely.

Thank you so much Cajsa -- I am very honored by your feature!
I just love this cat in the basket, even if mine would never put up with that :)
I really do enjoy taking SL pictures. I'll mention that I do not do the builds -- just compose, light, and post process. Oh, and I do "polish" some with AI. I try to make them as natural as I can just as many do, me included, with makeup. I also try to mark pics with level of post, and do mention if AI was involved.
Most of all I enjoy the community of friends and artists that bring the real meaning to my SL. Big *hugs* to you all, and thanks so much artists for your awesome builds!!
