Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Mollie posted “I Never Learned to Read Your Mind,” a fitting title for a picture of a woman sitting on the edge of a cliff overlooking the ocean while she thinks. The way she holds her head in her hands doesn’t seem sorrowful so much as puzzled, even a bit irked. There’s a bit of “What were they thinking?” about her pose that is so much more interesting than simply looking sad. As to reading minds, let’s all be glad we can’t. Seriously, do you want your every stray thought to be known by someone else?

“Maybe” has us all back on that cliff again. It might be a different cliff or just a different angle. But don’t a lot of us seek high ground to think. It’s as though the farther we can see, the more we can understand. Not that long vistas will help you solve Goldbach’s Conjecture, but personal problems can feel smaller and easier when we are reminded of our size in the universe. There is such abandon in her pose, her body relaxed. She looks at ease in spite of the hard ground. The fuller quote from which she drew her title is “Maybe I wouldn't be already gone again if it weren't for the wind." She’s as free as a leaf on the wind. Perhaps she isn’t thinking about a problem, perhaps she’s thinking about where to go next.
“Love Is Not Finite” is a striking picture. It’s desaturated which makes the stronger colors stand out. Her hair is blowing wildly in the wind. Her hair and the flowers are the strongest colors in the picture. The small bouquet of sunflowers is particularly beautiful when we aren’t distracted by the throbbing brightness of their yellows. I love everything about this picture.
Mollie creates excellent pictures of her Second Life. She does some with her friends and lovers, but most are head and body shots of herself. A few are erotic and a very few are not for the office but only because we are such silly prudes. There isn’t a bad picture among them. She projects such ease and comfort with herself, choosing poses that project calm, relaxation, and confidence. She looks like she is having fun, not just with her pictures, but with her life.
