New World Tableau: Ryker Beck's "My Immortal"

Ryker created this profound Tableau in a hospital room in the insane asylum of Channel Islands, a place not accessible by SLURL teleport link.  "However," she tells me, "it is well worth the effort in finding. It is a magnificent build."  After the break, she explains the process for making this complex and powerful image.

New World Tableau: Leila Carroll's "The Stairs"

Leila's coolly sensual Tableau isn't strictly safe for work viewing, unless maybe you work at the DNA Lounge, but like the sexiest images, more is suggested, than actually revealed.  In any case, you most certainly want to click it, to see "The Stairs" fully unfurled.

"[T]his particular pose was, shall we say... a collaborative vision," she tells me coyly, explaining its inspiration.  "A private moment shared (in text) that I wanted to convey visually."  I seem to see an ambivalent look in the woman's face, and ask Leila if she had that in mind.  She took several dozen photos of this scene, she says, but "[t]his particular image caught my eye because it led to a feeling of being watched.  Almost as if she's saying with her eyes, 'I'm watching you, watching us... '  Not minding it at all."  She winks. "In fact, maybe turned on by it."

New World Tableau: Reflection In The Quiet

An Ivy League university is playing host to a sad and desolate cabin surrounded by mystery and wind, so I couldn't resist creating this Tableau.  Created by AM Radio (the man who helped us die like Marat, then took us to The Faraway) with terraforming by Poid Mahovlich, "The Quiet" is a glorious study of decay done up in golden sunlight.  Not strictly interactive-- maybe there's a way to ring the cabin's many brass bells, but I couldn't figure out how-- it's still an ideal locale for creating a Tableau of your own.  Hotspur O'Toole, for example, captured one in video.  Visit The Quiet in Princeton West-- direct SLURL teleport at this link.

New World Tableau: Negko DeVinna's "Death of Iron Man"

Negko's subversive and mordantly beautiful "Rust, the Death of Iron Man" was actually made possible by the companies which produced the blockbuster movie.  "I picked up the free Iron Man outfit that won the contest to promote the movie in Second Life," DeVinna explains.  He added just a few post-production effects, bringing out the rust in the armor and the light from Tony Stark's chest. "The scene takes place at the New Relic, specially designed for better viewing with WindLight clients."  (Direct SLURL teleport to the site at this link.)  As for its inspiration, Negko says: "I read a bit of comics when I was a kid (yes we know Marvel, even in France!)  As the whole super hero mythology is all inspired from the Greek and Roman mythology, adventures of the super heroes are generally tragedies (just think of The Thing's sex life.)"

New World Tableau: Faerie Presents Dunan in "Starry Night"

Faerie Hax gets around-- winging over wastelands, on some occasions, swimming with mermaids, on others, and here, taking this photo of Dunan Wilder at the "Virtual Starry Night" exhibition.  "While it is a great place to learn about the life and works of Vincent van Gogh," Faerie writes me, "what sets it apart from real life art galleries are the parts where they have recreated some of his more famous paintings in 3D.   You can walk into, around and through the painting.  A great use of SL I think."  See for yourself-- direct SLURL teleport to the exhibition at this link.

New World Tableau: Collin Savon's Restroom Redemption

This breathtaking Tableau is somewhat unsafe for work viewing, unless you work at a fetish boutique.  (Click the image for the full effect.)  I selected it as a runner-up in Koinup's Second Life Exotic screenshot contest, a work by Collin Savon featuring his partner Melodious Source as a model.  (The bottom half of Ms. Source, at any rate.)

"I guess I like the elements of sexuality, danger, debauchery and voyeurism," muses Savon.  "All I knew going into is is that I wanted to make a little restroom to play in, the final shots I chose were selected out of a series of maybe twenty shots in various poses."  The restroom itself is in a private location.  A heavily post-processed shot, Collin explains the work he put into it after the break.  See more of his equally sensual (and quite often not worksafe) images in his Flickr stream.
