Tweet of the Day: Dave Navarro Addicted to World of Warcraft; Fan Recommends Second Life Instead

World of Warcraft addition, meet Jane's Addiction: Rock sex god Dave Navarro recently Tweeted his growing addiction to World of Warcraft, which is striking in itself. (Arguably supplanting Dave Chappelle as the coolest cat into WoW.) More interesting to me is a gorgeous Peruvian fan tells him to get into Second Life instead, allowing that "Someone with your real life wouldn't need [a Second Life]." But then by that logic, Dave Navarro shouldn't need a World of Warcraft life (but enjoys one anyway.) And why would a glamorous Peruvian addicted to Second Life worry about that distinction herself?

SL Tweet of the Day: Drew Digs Dingo (Machinima That Is)

Beloved funny man and SL steampunk fan Drew Carey sends a fulsome Tweet on behalf of "Watch the World(s)", the classic Second Life machinima from 2007 by Robbie Dingo. (I wrote about it here, linked to an alternative video site.) As great as it is, I wonder if we can Tweet some newer machinima that's just about as beautiful in Mr. Carey's direction. From this year, I'd recommend Lyric Lundquist's "cradle and trap", ColeMarie Soleil's "Broken-Fixed", and Lainy Voom's "Fall". (Interesting how women near-dominate SL machinima.) Which others would you recommend?

Second Life Tweet of the Day (From William Gibson)

In a trenchant if painful ,analogy, William Gibson compares Orly Taitz, a leader of the "birther" movement, to an SL avatar. I'd rather leave commentary pertaining to Ms. Taitz to RL political blogs, but I do take issue with the implication that Second Life avatars are inexpressive. The cyberpunk master surreptiously visited SL a couple years ago, but clearly didn't explore long enough to see the range of expressive avatars possible beyond a surface exploration. Or to put it another way: When Gibson says "Orly", I reply, "O RLY?"
